The Fort William and District`s Table Tennis Season is now underway with a number of league matches in Division One having been played recently. Last Year`s winner Steven Crook is already looking too strong after recording 3-0 wins over nearest rivals Monte Bleasdale and John Grant. The latter two also locked horns recently with Monte coming out on top 3-0, though he had to hold off a spirited challenge from John in the 3rd game, which he took 12-10. However John had to rely on his experience to hold off newcomer Fiona Clark who is improving by the week, in order to record a 3-1 victory. Jim Hinchley however, newly promoted as last year`s Division Two winner is finding life in the top flight a little difficult as he awaits to record a victory.
The Open Singles knock-out was played recently, which produced a surprise result in one of the semi-finals when Fiona Clark defeated John Grant 3-0. Fiona however found last year`s winner Steven Crook too strong as Steve won comfortably and thus retains his title.
New members are always welcome and it is not too late for newcomers to participate in the leagues. In addition friendly matches are played every week alongside league fixtures. For further information see the clubs website at: www.tabletennisfortwilliam.org.uk
